Business Background

PD&MS is a leading multi-disciplined engineering company with a strong reputation for consistently delivering safe, scalable and cost effective solutions to the oil and gas, drilling, production and marine industries. PD&MS delivers effective solutions for clients to ensure all engineering and project management needs are met safely and professionally on both drilling and production facilities, offering a truly integrated service. PD&MS employs more than 200 onshore personnel at locations in Aberdeen, Dundee, Great Yarmouth, Brazil and Baku, Azerbaijan.

In 2014 Core29 were engaged to perform systems diligence on behalf of Inflexion Private Equity in support of their potential investment.  Following successful completion of the transaction, Core29 were invited to deliver the recommendations detailed in the final diligence report.

The Challenge

SharePoint Project

PD&MS recognised the importance of streamlining the management of not only their internal workflows but the refining and streamlining of their existing project data to allow simple access and control.  After engagement with key stakeholders the Projects mission statement was defined as:

‘To deliver an environment which enables effective collaboration, improves key business process management through the use of automation and workflows and centralises the management of data (non- project deliverables) across PD&MS.’

ProArc Project

PD&MS identified a need to improve the management of project deliverables (drawings, work packages, documentation etc).  It was decided that an eDMS system was to be implemented across the business.

The delivery of an ‘off the shelf’ eDMS system.  Utilising standard workflows and functionality.

The Core 29 Solution

SharePoint Project

Microsoft SharePoint was identified as the preferred platform for managing the requirement and as a result a SharePoint project as sanctioned to ensure the output was aligned to the business strategy. Core 29 delivered an environment which enabled effective business collaboration and enhanced communication which centralised document management.

ProArc

Core29 delivered an eDMS system. The system provided improved management of agreed customer deliverables, end to end document control process and a visibility and security around historic and active deliverables documentation.
